Comprehensive Information on Bihar 2010 Assembly Election, Politicians and General Bihar Politics

Sheikhpura assembly constituency recorded 53% polling while Barbigha recorded 51% polling on Tuesday. Though the voters were waiting to cast their vote in long queues at many booths at 5 pm in the two constituencies in Sheikhpura district.

Sheikhpura constituency is the strongest hold of Congress party, the sitting MLA Sunila Singh daughter-in-law of strong man of the Cong late Raju Singh and wife of late Sanjay Singh ex-minister, who recently died in Munger Jailed facing murder charges. Sheikhpura district has Bhumihars cast voters dominations and the fate of candidates contesting elections in Sheikhpura and Barbigha constituencies solely decided by their liking or disliking. Sheikhpura seat has become the legacy of Late Raju Babu’s family, previously he was representing this seat from 1972 to 1990 and from 1990 to 2005 his son late Sanjay Singh and from 2000 to 2010 his daughter-in-law Snila Sinha is representing this seat. In spite of all odds & even, she will retain the seat.

As far as Barbigha seat is concerned previously it was reserved for scheduled caste but now become general seat and Congress candidate Ashok chaudhary ex-MLA from this seat again fielded by Congress while he belongs to scheduled caste category, his opponents are from Dominating Bhumihars community, here is litmus test for Cong. The victory of Congress will reflect the clear polarization of Bhumihar voters towards Congress party. The party also hoping the lion shares of Bhumihars due to anti Nitish posture of Lalan Singh JDU MP from Munger and working for Congress party.
