C M Nitish Kumar’s dream to set up Nalanda International University in a bid to revive the glory of ancient Nalanda University crossed a milestone on Friday when it’s newly appointed vice-chancellor Gopa Sabharwal was handed over papers related to transfer of 446 acres of land to the University. Nalanda DM Sanjay Agrawal handed over the mutation papers of the land to Sabharwal.
At a meeting held at the chief minister’s residence in connection with the establishment of the University, CM Nitish Kumar directed the officials concerned to accelerate the process of setting up the university, keeping an eye on the quality of works and completing it within the stipulated time frame.
HRD principal secretary Anjani Kumar Singh apprised the CM that 446 acres of land had been acquired for the university at Rajgir and handed over to its V C. This may be called as history repeats itself. It would be extremely exciting moments for us, when students will start learning at Nalanda as it was at the time of chinese scholar, who visited Nalanda about 3k years back.
