The five-day-old strike of junior doctors in the state’s 6 government Medical colleges and hospitals ended on Friday following the surrender of controversial RJD MLA Surendra Pd Yadav, who was accused of ordering his bodyguards to open fire at junior doctors in a Gaya hospital. MLA Yadav surrendered in the court of chief judicial magistrate RNS Pandey on Friday morning and was remanded to judicial custody. On Thursday, district and sessions judge had rejected his anticipatory bail petition. Yadav’s 2 bodyguards, who allegedly fired at the interns, are already in jail.
The state government also accepted their 2 other demands, including enactment of Health Professional Protection Act and implementation of senior Residency scheme in the state. The CM assured that the government. would soon enact the medical professional Act. But the doctors should restraint from frequently strike on any common matters.
