Functioning of various medical college hospitals in the state were paralyzed in various degrees on Monday as junior doctors went on lightning strike to protest firing and assault on their colleagues at Anugrah Narain Medical College and Hospital [ANMCH], Gaya, by the body guards and supporters of RJD’s Bela ganj MLA S Yadav on Sunday evening.
Patna Medical College and Hospital [PMCH] Superintendent Dr O P Choudhary admitted the functioning of the Emergency ward was hit. However, he claimed, all out patients department [OPDs] functioned normally and operations were performed as usual. Some junior doctors have joined their duty and others might also join soon, he added.
On Monday, junior doctors submitted a memorandum to the health secretary regarding their demands. These included disqualification of the RJD MLA from state assembly and arrest of those involved in the attack. Doctors always resorted extremely on any happening without caring the fate of serious patients, it seems not proper on their parts.
