Comprehensive Information on Bihar 2010 Assembly Election, Politicians and General Bihar Politics

State’s ruling JD-U has again put party MPs Rajiv Ranjan Singh ‘Lalan’ and Upendra Kushwaha on notice for defying the party directive to appear before it and explain their anti party activities.

The fresh notices, issued by the party’s 3 member state disciplinary committee, have asked Lalan and Kushwaha to appear before it on February 5.  Lalan, a Lok Sabha MP and former state JD-U chief, and Kushwaha, a Rajya Sabha MP, had earlier been put on notice to appear before the disciplinary panel on Jan 27, but they just looked the other way.

“If they again ignore our notice, it will mean that they have nothing to say and that they think, they are above the party constitution,” disciplinary committee chairman Gyanendra Singh Gyanu said.

Gyanu is expected to wind up the exercise of seeking written explanations from the 10 party MPs, 6 MLCs and others, who were alleged to have worked against party candidates in 2010 assembly elections, by Feb 15. Most of them have responded to the disciplinary committee missives.

The “rebels” include Monazir Hasan, Arjun Rai, Sushil Kumar Singh, Meena Singh, Baidyanath Mahto, Purnamasi Ram and Jagdish Sharma.  Mangnilal Mandal, Gyanu said, has submitted a vague reply saying he was busy in marriage negotiations of his son while Mahabali Singh has sought time to appear before it on Feb 15.  Severe disciplinary actions may invite split in the Parliamentry group of JD-U MPs, as indication coming so for. The party should take restraint from strong actions.
