CM Nitish Kumar on Friday said that NDA’s victory in the 2010 assembly elections in Bihar was a unique display of people’s power in support of a political combine.  It was positive vote for continuance of our development with justice plank.  It is indeed, a people victory and the sole credit go to the people, who wanted to script a new success story in the state, he said. Addressing a mammoth public meeting on the occasion of the 123rd birth anniversary of veteran freedom fighter and former MLA, the late Dasu Sinha, on the Sikariya High School grounds.  Nitish said the story of development growth taking place in Bihar has now reached beyond the shores of the country and the foreign dignitaries are now visiting the state to acknowledge the changes happening in various social and economic fields in the state. Promises are also being made to us regarding financial assistance to various projects.

Slamming the Centre for putting impediments on the state’s path to progress, even after getting a befitting reply in the recent assembly elections, the Centre’s response to the demand for special category status to the state does not seen to have changed.

Referring to his recent meeting with World Bank chief at Patna, Nitish said that the Bihar govt has signed a $220-million agreement with the World Bank. He said that the agreement was significant as large chunk of the rural population in north Bihar districts are vulnerable to floods every year. “We heartily thank the World Bank for coming forward to alleviate the misery of the people affected by the 2008 Kosi deluge and also assuring us to assist in other key areas of our development.
