Phulwari police claimed to have busted a gang of criminals involved in sale of arms with the arrest of two persons, identified as Sanjay Rai and Kant Paswan, both from Naubatpur, on Friday. The police recovered weapons including rifle, revolvers and live cartridges for their posseand caught him red-handed while striking a deal with a customer to sell a rifle. On being interrogated, Paswan disclosed the names of other persons involved in the business of illegal arms and weapons, the DSP said. The DSP said he had deputed a few policemen as decoy customers –

A deal was struck and he was called near Janipur area with arms,and was nabbed by alert policemen, he said, adding he was personally supervising the operation to bust the gang. Janipur is very infamous inflow of illegal local handmade arms that is the reason that the whole areas of Naubatpur block felt strong presence of dreaded criminals and Maoists. All crimes whether it is minor or major are committed by criminals of these localities. The Phulwari DSP has done appreciable job in nabbing two arms smugglers but there are several groups like it and must be busted as soon as possible other-wise, much deals are on card due to coming Panchayat elections in April-May, 2011. The state is famous for arms struggles in panchayat polls.
