Mr. Rupam Pathak, the 39-year old women who knifed Purnia BJP MLA Mr. Raj Kishore Kesri to death on Tuesday last, is now lodged in Purnia Jail, but her act and story of her alleged sexual exploitation by the slain legislator and his aide is now reverberating across the state.

Rupam Pathak, who submitted her thesis for Ph.D on ‘Hindi Gazal ka safar-namain Patna University a few months back, has been running a residential school in Purnia for over four years.

Some leaders of the Seemanchal region, including Lovely Anand and Ranjit Ranjan [both of the Congress], and ex-MPs, took the case and would meet the PM and home minister for fair CBI inquiry. The activists of All India Progressive Women’s Association [AIPWA], an off-shoot of CPI [ML], Bihar Women’s Network [BWN], Aao Bahna, Mahila Lok Samiti and others, sought intervention of, “The National Human Rights Commission and National Commission for Women should intervene and do justice to Rupam Pathak who was compelled by the situation to take such a drastic step,” said Neelu of BWN.
