Booth no. 139 at Govt. middle school, Kurkuri in Paliganj assembly segment was notorious for frequent poll related clashes during the 1980s and 90s. Locals still recall police firing that led to the death of a young boy on polling day in 1985.

The same polling station in Paliganj assembly segment was different on Tuesday as polling was totally incident-free here. “Polling was conducted in a complete peaceful manner today,” said Shivadhar Singh, a lawyer. Sihi was other centre of Maoist activities in Paliganj segment. Early this year, the rebels had set fire to at least half-a –dozen road rollers, tractors and loaders which completely disrupted on going construction works.

In Paliganj sitting CPI, ML, MLA, Nanda had locked in fierce five cornered contest with RJD-LJP, JDU-BJP, CONG and an Independent candidates, very difficult to predict about victorious candidate.
